domiKnow knows how words are related thanks to two open datasets from the Commonsense Computing Initiative and Luminoso:
- ConceptNet 5.7, by Robyn Speer, Joshua Chin and Catherine Havasi (ConceptNet 5.5: An Open Multilingual Graph of General Knowledge, AAAI 2017): which words are linked, and how (“is part of”, “is found in”…).
- ConceptNet Numberbatch 19.08, by the same authors: how close words are in meaning.
- wordfreq, by Robyn Speer: how common each word is.
- The ENABLE word list (public domain): which words are words.
The head in the Mind Meld cutscene is the Lee Perry-Smith head scan by Infinite Realities, licensed under CC BY 3.0 (reduced to its shape, without the inside of the mouth or the eyeballs, and drawn as a hologram).
ConceptNet, Numberbatch and wordfreq’s data are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. The game’s word data is adapted from them (filtered to English game words, the vectors compressed, links scored into tiers) and is shared under the same licence: see data/LICENSE.txt. ConceptNet includes material from Wiktionary, WordNet, Open Mind Common Sense, OpenCyc, DBPedia and other sources; see copying and sharing ConceptNet.
